Ekoform is a new company formed by three career professionals with experience in procurement, packaging, logistics, supply chain and business process outsourcing based in the UK and India.
Ekoform products are plant based packaging and tableware solutions made from palm leaves and sugarcane… which means once you have finished with it you can put it straight back into the ground via your home compost bin.
The target market is initially eat-at-home and takeaway disposable opportunities, gradually moving into food manufacturing & non-food packaging supply.
Ekoform has been established to supply and develop biodegradable packaging solutions derived predominantly from plant sources.
Our primary sources of material are bi-products of other industries or simply fallen leaves which means they have not been grown specifically for packaging but instead we use materials which would either decompose or be burned.
Our goal is to cost-effectively replace non-biodegradable/hard to recycle packaging with high quality biodegradable formats which can be both home and industrially composted and which provide the performance criteria of traditional packaging formats.
Our products support local families & communities in the developing world whose livelihoods depend on local production for a living. The company sees evolving growth opportunities as many businesses seek to move away from single-use or non-recycleable packaging to more sustainable solutions. Single use plastic legislation.
A ban on single use plastic came into force in July 2021 across the whole of the EU, the UK is likely to follow suit by 2023. Single-use plastic plates, cutlery, and polystyrene cups will be banned in England under government plans, as it seeks to reduce the plastic polluting the environment.
Plastic items from takeaway food and drink dominate the litter in the world’s oceans, according to research published in June, with single-use bags, plastic bottles, food containers and food wrappers the four most widespread. Both bagasse and areca leaf products offer compostable & biodegradable alternatives without compromise.
